A few months back, we took a look at how your dog’s diet can effect allergies and how important a healthy diet is.  We also told you about how PURELUXE eliminates fillers and certain protein sources that are known to cause allergies in some dogs.  This week, we’d like to take a deeper dive.

Allergies can be difficult to treat and narrow down but will almost certainly be a lifelong condition if they are not addressed.  The most common forms of allergies in dogs can be seen on the skin and often get infected as dogs lick and chew at the source.  When you see this, it’s important to head to your vet so a full skin work-up can be done.  If it turns out it’s mites or fleas, a flea treatment will be implemented, and, if bacteria are found, an antibacterial shampoo might be used.  If more pervasive infections occur, oral antibiotics might be recommended.

Fleas are actually the easiest allergen to treat in comparison to food or environmental allergies.  However, food allergies can often be solved by changing your dog’s food.  That’s why it’s important to take a close look at your dog’s diet and find a brand, like PURELUXE, that takes care in its ingredient selection to minimize allergic reactions.  It’s not the time to cheap out here.  Your vet will address possible environmental factors in your dog’s surroundings as needed.

At PURELUXE, we’re proud to provide you with these important blogs that help your furry family members.  Learn more about our formulas at pureluxepetfood.com.
