Perhaps you’ve seen some of the symptoms like your dog urinating uncontrollably in the house.  Diabetes (diabetes mellitus) is a serious problem, but there are some steps you can take to mitigate it and maybe even avoid it.

Diabetes is defined by a persistent high level of blood glucose (hyperglycemia) and can be caused by any number of things such as having hypothyroidism, Cushing’s disease or even being an intact female dog.  Some breeds are also more susceptible than others.  If diabetes is detected by your vet, insulin therapy is a common treatment that can mitigate diabetes.  Additionally, special diets are often recommended to help reduce weight in overweight dogs, and diets that are high in fiber can be recommended for those dogs that are at an ideal weight or who are underweight.

As such, diabetes doesn’t have to be a death sentence.  However, poor diet from an early age can often lead to chronic conditions like diabetes.  That’s why PURELUXE Pet Food has crafted both dog and cat food formulas that have the perfect levels of protein and micronutrients without all of the added fillers like sugar than can contribute the weight gain and diabetes.  Do you know what’s really in your pet’s food?  See all of our formulas at pureluxepetfood.com.
