As our dogs get older, and even when they’re a little younger, arthritis can creep its way into your dog’s life and cause painful inflammation that interferes with movement.  Fortunately, it’s not fatal and can be treated to some extent.

First of all, you need to know the warning signs.  Larger dogs and breeds are more susceptible to arthritis due to to their increased weight which puts more pressure on the joints.  Therefore, if your dog is overweight, this is just another reason to get them to loose weight.  Also, certain breeds are just more susceptible to arthritis than others.  If you notice that your dog seems a little slower or is stiffer, it’s take to take a visit to the vet to see what’s wrong.

Additional steps to take if your dog has arthritis, or if you want to try and prevent it, is to keep them hydrated which helps the joints, provide well padded resting areas, keep your dog well exercised and use a harness instead of a leash to avoid stress to the neck muscles and vertebrae.

Did you also know that your dog’s diet can play a factor in arthritis too?  Look for foods that contain essential amino acids like omega-3 and omega-6 which help prevent inflammatory health problems.  PURELUXE Pet Food includes ingredients like flaxseed and salmon oil which are high in these amino acids.  It’s worth taking a look at your pet food’s ingredients to see if they are present.  They may not be.

With these tips, you and your pup should be a well on the way to a happier life with fewer arthritis symptoms.  Learn all about PURELUXE at pureluxepetfood.com.
