A recent book written by a veterinary expert takes up the somewhat dangerous place of the dog park, and her conclusions may surprise you.

For many of us, it just makes sense to take our dogs to the dog park.  It’s a park for dogs after all.  However, even though our dog might enjoy romping around such a park, the truth is that there are other dogs that might not get along with your best friend or that might make your dog agitated and feel unsafe.  In one exchange in the book with a dog parent, the parent explained that their dog was attacked on their first visit to the park and that subsequent visits caused their dog to be aggressive with our dogs.  The expert responded: “Don’t ever take your dog to the dog park”.

The expert went on to explain that a dog park is a poor place to perform aggression work since there’s too much going on with other dogs that aren’t trained well enough or are too immature for the park.  However, don’t despair.  The expert suggested going to the dog park when there are just a few dogs present with attentive dog parents.  It will make for a much more positive experience for everyone.  If that still doesn’t work, it’s ok.  Not all dogs need other dog friends.  Humans can do just fine.

After you’re done at the park, it very well could be feeding time.  Do you know what you’re putting in your dog’s bowl?  At PURELUXE Pet Food, our holistic, safe and transparent formulas have fresh meat first with no fillers or additives.  Stay safe out there and visit pureluxepetfood.com to see all of our dog and cat formulas.
